Fresh Start Probationary Contract Requirements (EAP1):

❖ Students will enroll in 2 credit courses based on previous

academic performance

❖ Students with outstanding failures will be REQUIRED to

repeat these courses this semester

❖ Additionally, 1 non-credit Fresh Start Strategies course

(CIFS 100) will be automatically enrolled by the Registrar’s office. Course will commence in May (details will be updated on RAMSS).

Fresh Start Probationary Contract Requirements (EAP1):

Must achieve a Term GPA of 1.67 or higher (C- average)

Must achieve a Cumulative GPA of 1.0 or higher

Must Pass the non-credit Strategies course

Without consultation from School Advisors students CANNOT drop any courses. Status will revert to RTW and will be withdrawn from the Fresh Start Program

❖ If successful in EAP1, students will continue in the following

term with EAP2 contract

❖ 4 credit courses, as determined on contract

❖ Must achieve a Term GPA of 1.67 or higher (C- average) ❖ Must achieve a Cumulative GPA of 1.0 or higher

❖ Courses taken during EAP1 and EAP2 will count

towards credit and your CGPA

❖ Students may not qualify for OSAP during the Fresh

Start Program and are required to have appropriate funding

❖ Students must clear all outstanding account holds in

❖ ACADEMIC STANDING APPEALS at the end of the

term WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

What Do I Do First?

❖ Following the session, the School Program Assistant

(trsitm@ryerson.ca) will email your contract for the Spring/Summer 2020 term

❖ You must sign and return by email a copy

acknowledging that you understand the conditions of your contract no later than Thursday, April 30, 2020

❖ It is your responsibility to add/readjust your timetable

using RAMSS

❖ You are academically and financially responsible for any

course registration during the semester

❖ my.ryerson.ca (RAMSS)

Can I Drop a Class?

❖ Students CANNOT drop any classes indicated

  • n their EAP contracts. Doing so will be in

violation of the contract and will disqualify you from the Fresh Start Program and revert you to RTW status

❖ It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to contact your

program advisors and instructors if experiencing academic/personal problems during the term, DO NOT DELAY

Finished the Fresh Start Program?

❖ Successful completion of the EAP1 and EAP2

contracts will guarantee reinstatement back into the BTM program (Full‐time or Part‐time Degree, subject to space)

❖ Students that will be completing their EAP 2

contract in Fall 2020:

❖ If your CGPA is between 1.0 and 1.66, you will

continue on Academic Probation

❖ If your CGPA is 1.67 or above, you will be calculated

to Clear status

If I do not complete the Program:

❖ If you are unsuccessful in EAP1, EAP2 or decide to opt

  • ut of the program, you will be reverted back to RTW

status

❖ You are required to sit out for the remainder of the 12

month period

❖ After this period, you may apply for reinstatement to the

  • program. However, it is highly unlikely you will be

reinstated

❖ You may participate in the Fresh Start Program only once

during your academic career at Ryerson. Withdrawal from,

  • r unsuccessful completion of, an Extended Academic

Probation Contract will constitute one attempt

Your Performance Matters

❖ If you choose to participate in Fresh Start and

then decide to revert back to RTW, it is in your best interest to talk to the school and advise on the reason you are not able to continue

❖ It is important to know that your performance and

dedication to your studies this semester will impact your future application to be re-instated to the program and poor academic performance will likely result in your inability to continue your studies in TRSM

❖ CANNOT DROP ANY CONTRACT COURSE WRITTEN on the Probationary Plan of Study unless authorized by an TRSITM Program Advisor (trsitm@ryerson.ca) ❖ Experiencing academic difficulty during the semester? ▪ GET IMMEDIATE COUNSELING FROM TRSITM PROGRAM ADVISORS AND SPEAK WITH PROFESSORS IN QUESTION ▪ Be prepared to submit some kind of documentation i.e. completed student health certificate (http://www.ryerson.ca/senate/StudentInfo) or death certificate within 3 business days ▪ Seek out support services on campus (i.e. Academic Success Centre)

GPA Adjustment Form

❖ If you have previously failed an elective course (i.e. Professional Table I, Professionally-Related Table II, Lower Level Liberal -Table A, Upper Level Liberal - Table B), you can use the GPA Adjustment Form (available in Enrollments Services and Student Records) ❖ New online process: the GPA Adjustment form is available online at http://ryerson.ca/registrar/students/forms.html/ ❖ Must be completed NO LATER than:

❑ The FIRST class (Spring/Summer) to be processed and

reflected on your Transcript/ CGPA

This will not remove the failure from your transcript but it will replace the grade value in your CGPA
