In 2012 Camelot undertook a pre-study on behalf of MODON to establish the feasibility of the development of a MLT in Dammam 2nd Industrial City
As a result of a successful pre-study MODON progressed to developing the concept to link a selection of industrial cities by rail and a network of MLT’s starting with Dammam 2

The concept and scope of operations for Dammam 2 was based on best practice globally and the specific customer requirements
The scope of services and the breadth of products handled will make Dammam 2 MLT the benchmark for inland terminal development and serves as a pilot for MLTs in the region
Logistics Ancillary Services i.e. tank cleaning Bonded and non- bonded Areas agreed with customs

The Yanbu with King Abdullah Port and Jeddah Islamic Port will be the integrated logistics corridor in the Western Region of KSA
2
Key benefits of the collaboration between the West Coast
Logistics Hubs:
Increased bargaining power though combined lobbying activities for
provision of incentives, infrastructure and eased regulations
Improved supplier base as more and more suppliers (e.g. LSPs) are
attracted to major logistics hubs
Customer satisfaction due to more efficient handling of their logistics
requirements and added flexibilities
Shared services (e.g. container cleaning, ISO tank leasing, etc.)
Provides financial and economic benefits to the Kingdom
and the region:
Reduce logistics cost by approx. 30% Creates about 18,500 direct jobs GDP growth SR 5.7 Bil expected in 2030 (RCY)
…Current freight traffic volumes in container export justify a connectivity with rail and it can be before the land bridge connectivity is realized. 2014: 2,900 TEU/ Day (1 Mil/year) = 6 trains/day one direction The development and creation of a multi-modal logistics hub is one of the most important projects, which will not only increase the competitiveness of existing industries but also attract new investments and provide employment opportunities

Port Operators and LSPs recognize the shift from road to rail, and the importance that MLT’s will play in this exciting new era for logistics in the GCC
Foreign investors have developed a strong appetite to invest in the new logistics sector
demonstrating a willingness to establish collaborations or JV’s with GCC Governments and businesses to take up these opportunities
Investments are high but so are returns as reported by Drewry in their 2015 Global
Container Operators Annual Report. EBITDA is between 20 and 45%
The development of MLT’s will increase the need for specialist handling equipment
manufacturers and support services and create attractive employment opportunities We look forward to this major advancement in logistics in the GCC

The Internet-of-Things in Logistics (IOTiL) – How will your business benefit from IOTiL
Advanced Track &
Tracing
Key Element Impact to Logistics
Advanced track & tracing works with real time data. This allows a tight timing for in- and outbound traffic. Your un/loading points receive just in time notifications and countdowns. Loading and unloading become a F1 pit stop.
Transport
Compliance
RFID data logger with GPS, temperature and g-force sensors, prove the transport compliance or the compliance violation including the responsible
- party. Paper based transport documents will be replaced by encrypted digital
document on the data logger storage
Cyber physical
Warehouse support
SmartGlasses, mover bots with mobile storage units and autonomous fork lifters. Support and accelerate pick and stock operations at lower costs, lower failure but higher speed.
Internet based risk
capturing
Web based risk management allows your company to trigger counter measurements before an issue occurs and before your competitors act. E.g.: protect you production by filling up the stock before a strike blocks your supplier.

Carrier and consignee regular exchange status data concerning the transport status. The Transport Management and Yard Management System monitor the status, plan preliminary
actions by considering capacity constraints and trigger those actions. Vision: F1 Pit Stop Experience “An incoming truck will be welcomed as expected at every station on the yard and every station is prepared to dispatch it in the most efficient manner.”
Reduction of waiting times/costs Reduction of vehicles on the yard Proof of proper goods handling Improved service towards business partners
