SLIDE 16

Common Issues and How to Treat

  • Maple Turning Yellow During the Summer
  • Problem: Iron Deficiency
  • Solution: Yearly Iron Supplements
  • Linden with Split Bark on Trunk
  • Problem: Typically sunscald which occurs from freezing and thawing through the

winter

  • Solution: Keep the tree as healthy as possible so that it can seal off the damage and

wrap the tree with tree wrap in the winter to prevent further damage

  • Honey Locust tree with sunken orange and black bark
  • Problem: This is a canker that is often a result of too much water
  • Solution: Clear the area around the base of the tree and check the moisture of the

ground to see if soil is saturated, if possible reduce watering. Sometimes the issue is a result of clay soils and poor drainage.
