  2. 1. Work related to DIPP  Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion is responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector, keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives. While individual Administrative Ministries look after the production, distribution, development and planning aspects of specific industries allocated to them, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion is responsible for the overall Industrial Policy

  3.  Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion monitors the industrial growth and production, in general, and selected industrial sectors, such as cement, paper and pulp, leather, tyre and rubber, light electrical industries, consumer goods, consumer durables, light machine tools, light industrial machinery, light engineering industries etc., in particular. The Department studies, assesses and forecasts the need for technological development in specific industrial sectors. On this basis, it plans for modernization and technological up gradation of the Indian industry so that, it keeps pace with the international developments in industrial technology on a continuing basis

  4.  In the department large volume of different type of data are generated and compiled by the department for meeting their specific requirements. Availability of relevant data leads to break through not only in scientific understanding and achievements, but also for analysis of economic achievements, growth for betterment of public and the civil society.

  5.  Collection of data by Government agencies is also for development of related industry and comparison in growth rate of like industry.  Obtaining data is also helpful in determining the technology absorption by the industry.

  6. 2. Project import at concessional rate of duty  Import of capital goods for initial , setting or substantial expansion of the project under Custom Notification no. 230/86 dated 03.04.1986 amended from time to time.

  7.  All items of machinery including prime movers, instruments apparatus and appliances, control gear and transmission equipment, auxiliary equipment (including those required for research & development purposes, testing and quality control), as well as all components (whether finished or not) or raw materials for the manufacture of the aforesaid items and their components, required for the initial setting up of a unit or the substantial expansion of an existing unit.

  8.  Substantial expansion means an expansion which increase the existing installed capacity by not less than 25 percent.  Spares or consumable stores are also allowed @ 10% of the value of the goods.

  9. 3. Advance authorization for export of Glass & Glass products For the export of Glass product, one can import its raw materials and consumables duty free through obtaining Advance Authorization/ License from DGFT RLA concerned.  These can be obtained by two ways

  10. A) Export items which are fixed in Hand Book of Procedure Vol. II published by DGFT and It is called Standard Input Out Put Norms (SION) fixed for the product. For example Sl. B) One want to export any item which is not listed in the SIONs that can be exported under adhoc norms Scheme i.e. to take advance authorization by mentioning export and import items of your choice but subject to approval of norms committee (In DGFT, seven norms committee are there for fixation of adhoc norms).  One can apply for fixation of SION also for their regular export of thgeir product, to DGFT (Head Quarters).
