  3. GRADES  60% Tests & Performance Tasks, 10% Classwork & Quizzes, 30% Final  A zero in the grade book means they did not turn in the assignment  Late work accepted up to the last week before Finals.  10% deduction after assignment has been in the grade book for one week.

  4. WHAT WILL THEY LEARN?  How the Internet works  Why the Internet is a big deal  What is Big Data  Cybersecurity  Encryption and its importance  Basic Programming  Compression  How to convert from Binary to Decimal to Hexadecimal  Writing concise technical responses.

  5. CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION  We do a lot of discovery based learning, which is fun but sometimes students over look the importance of studying.  We program most of the second semester, some students struggle with understand how to program. Try to encourage them to get help.

  6. AP TEST  Consists of a Multiple Choice test of 74 questions and two performance tasks  The performance tasks are completed by April 30 regardless if the student is taking the AP test. They amount to ~40% of the test.  Explore Performance task  Students respond to prompts about a recent computing innovation.  Create Performance task  Students create a program and then respond to prompts about it.  After the AP test in May students work on a Final Programming Project.

  7. WEBSITE – USE GOOGLE CLASSROOM  Students use their school login  Parents should be able to use their school login.  Used for assignments.
