  2. The Scheduling Process • 15 minute conferences with a Ridge counselor during the first two weeks of February. • Parents are invited, but are not required to attend. • Letters with appointment times have already been mailed home.

Option II Athletics: Off-Site PE  If you participate in a sport outside of Ridge (Off-Site), you may be eligible for Option II, which means you can be exempt from PE.  Minimum of 150 minutes per week of physical activity  Examples: Gotta Dance, travel sports teams, fencing, etc.  Students exempt from PE must take a Study Hall. You may not take a class.  Parent(s) may not be the coach for their own child.

  8. Option II Athletics: Ridge Sports  If you play a sport at Ridge, you are eligible for Option II, which means you can be exempt from PE.  Fall Sport – MP1 & MP2  Winter Sport – MP2 & MP3  Spring Sport – MP3 & MP4  Marching Band – MP1 & MP2  Students exempt from PE must take a Study Hall. You may not take a class.

  9. Physical Education for 9 th Graders  Marking Period 1 (MP1) = Project Adventure  Required for ALL freshmen  Not eligible for Option II during MP1  Marking Period 2 (MP2) = PE  Athletes eligible for Option II during MP2  Marking Period 3 (MP3) = Health 9  Required for ALL freshmen  Not eligible for Option II during MP3  Marking Period 4 (MP4) = PE  Athletes eligible for Option II during MP4

  10. Freshmen are only eligible for Option II Athletic Study Halls during MP2 and MP4.

  11. Study Halls  If you want a Study Hall in your schedule for a full semester or a full year, you must schedule one instead of an elective.  You may have a scheduled study hall plus an Option II athletic study hall during MP2 and MP4.  If you choose to schedule a study hall, it will be 4 days/week (biology lab will be day 5)

  17. Look in the “Credits” column How do I (CR) know if an elective is Half year courses are worth 2.5 full year or credits. half year? Full year classes are worth 5 credits.

Honors & AP Criteria  Language Arts  Need a final average of A- or better in both Lit Connections AND Comm Arts to enroll in Honors English 9  Science  Need a final average of A- or better in Science 08 to enroll in Honors Biology  Social Studies  Need a final average of A- or better in Social Studies 08 to enroll in Honors Global History 2  World Languages:  Need a final average of A- or better in World Language 08 to enroll in Intermediate First Year Honors

Honors & AP Criteria  Math:  Algebra I students need a final average of A or better to enroll in Honors Geometry  Geometry students need a final average of B or better to enroll in Honors Algebra II (students with a final average of B- or lower must take Honors Geometry in grade 9)  Also, for Math…  Algebra I students need a C+ or better to enroll in Geometry (students with a C or lower must retake Algebra I in grade 9)
