Who we are

  • Provide grants and services to families raising disabled or

seriously ill children and young people aged 17 and under.

  • Signpost to local and national organisations.
  • We develop and deliver programmes of support.

Who we help

  • Live in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales

and have permanent legal UK residency – lived in the UK for six months.

  • Parent or carer of a disabled or seriously ill child or

young person aged 17 or under.

  • Eligible for, and can send us evidence of one of the following: Universal

Credit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Employment Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit.

  • Or if not receiving benefits, can provide information about household

income.

The child or young person must require a high level of support in three or more of the following areas:

  • Personal care
  • Access to social activities
  • Education
  • Communication
  • Supervision and Vigilance
  • Medical or therapeutic treatment or Condition management
  • Physical environment and Specialist resources

What we provide

We can consider any request relating to the needs of the disabled child, young person and the family.

  • Family breaks, day trips
  • Computers, laptops, tablets
  • Clothing, bedding
  • Kitchen appliances, furniture
  • Sensory toys
  • Outdoor play equipment
  • Specialist items

We accept one application, per household, every 12 months.

What we help with

We use contracted suppliers to provide the majority of our grants. This helps our funding go further. Families may receive:

  • A payment card to redeem in store or online
  • A product delivered directly from our supplier
  • A direct payment to the supplier/provider
  • A voucher for a retailer

How we award a grant

How to apply

  • Applying for the first time:
  • Download an application form from our website www.familyfund.org.uk or ask

for one to be sent out to your home

  • We know that all non-essential travel is discouraged, and this may include a trip to the

post office. If you are unable to physically post your application to us you could take a photos of your completed application and email it in to us at info@familyfund.org.uk

  • First time applications can take 3-4 months to process
  • Applying again:
  • You can apply online on our website www.familyfund.org.uk or fill out a paper

application

  • Subsequent applications can take 8-10 weeks to process

  • Over 1,000 parents and carers trained

Our help includes:

  • One-to-one or group training
  • Access to free workshops
  • Tailored support for individual needs
  • Links to free information
  • Links to apps for children with additional

needs
