Why?- Economic Benefits

– $9 per square foot to annual office rents, – $7 per square foot to retail rents, – more than $300 per month to apartment rents and nearly $82 per

square foot to home values.

  • “Completion of the Exit 18 corridor reconstruction project, particularly

installation of a new traffic light at the intersection of Pine and M ain streets, has drastically increased the marketability for commercial development of property along the” (Post Star).

  • An improvement of a neighborhood’s walkability was associated with an

increase in value ranging from $700 to $3,000 depending on the market.
