About the Métis Financial Corporation of BC:

• The Métis Financial Corporation of BC is Métis owned & governed
• MFCBC officially opened its doors for business on August 1, 2018
• MFCBC is in place to serve all Métis people in BC
• MFCBC recently relocated our office to Kelowna

• There are Métis specific Aboriginal Financial Institutions in Alberta,

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and now BC

• Métis are the fastest growing population in Canada and have a very high

percentage of entrepreneurs

• Of those entrepreneurs, it should be noted that 41% are female
• As a Métis specific Aboriginal Financial Institution, our goal is to ensure

that Métis people have equal access and opportunities to resources that will help them achieve their goals

• The vision of the Métis Financial Corporation of BC is to be the financier of

choice for Métis entrepreneurs and to position Métis businesses to be able to fully participate in new and future economic opportunities

• The Métis Financial Corporation of BC is in place to assist Métis

Today I want to recognize two of the Métis entrepreneurs we had the pleasure to working with, Richard Ferguson and Alex Ibbotson.

• Richard Ferguson is the owner and operator of Sea-Cree Enterprises Ltd.

Through his business, Richard offers water-taxi services, fishing charters and eco-adventure tours from his home in Prince Rupert, BC

• Alex Ibbotson is the owner and operator of Canada Backcountry Services.

Through her company, Alex offers backcountry safety training, backcountry snowmobile mountain riding training and cultural leadership consulting. Alex was also the very first client to receive an approved loan through the Métis Financial Corporation of BC
