History

• The first documents prove

the existence of Branesti since the XVI-th century, so the commune is at least 400 years old.

• Between the years 1800-

1830, the first Bulgarian families from the south of the Danube migrated in

• Branesti. They influenced

the language and the customs.

• The name “Branesti”

comes from the word “braniste”, which means “meadow”.
