• Upstream and downstream of major urban areas
• Downstream of Point sources from Industrial & Domestic

discharge

 Major tributaries : Upstream of the confluence with the

Ganga

 In major drains  At important mass bathing place  Upstream of intake well for drinking water treatment plants  Downstream of wastewater treatment plants

Class I: Indicates the primary stations at selected locations of the Ganga main stem. These will act as impact or baseline stations for maximum parameters Class II: Indicates the secondary stations at the remaining locations, on the main stem and at important tributaries for limited parameters Class III : Indicates stations in major drains for selected parameters
