Activating MVE Reports Portal

Web Reports Portal has to be activated for your database. Once activated you can switch back and forth between MVE canned reports and the Reports Portal. STEP 1: File>Setup>Company - System Tab STEP 2: Select the Reports Portal check box to use SSRS reports STEP 3: Un select the Reports Portal check box to go back to MVE canned reports

*NOTE A setting has been added to File>Setup>Company>System in the Other Settings section. Under the heading System, click on the sub heading SSRS. By selecting YES in the drop down you will be able to access the Reports Portal and the legacy MVE reports at the same time.

This can only be turned on once the Report Portal has been activated by My Vision Express

Local Customers- If you have your own server and have a local installation of My Vision Express

Web-Hosted Customers- If you are a cloud customer and My Vision Express is hosting your data

Setting Securities

For Dashboard

STEP 1: File>Setup>Company - Security Tab STEP 2: Pick Security Group from dropdown STEP 3: Click + next to Reports to expand tree STEP 4: Select or Unselect the checkboxes next to corresponding security field

For Individual Reports

STEP 1: File>Setup>Company - Security Tab STEP 2: Pick Security Group from dropdown STEP 3: Click the Reports Portal Security button STEP 4: Select or Unselect the checkboxes next to corresponding reports Ticking the parent folder will check all the reports that fall under it. Having the Admin checkbox ticked for an employee will override individual report securities and allow access to all reports.Ticking the parent folder will check all the reports that fall under it.

Reports Portal Dashboard

Common Reports: All users can see common report “buckets” or categories. All users can see reports in these buckets as long as they have security access to those reports My Reports: Only the user logged in can see the buckets in this section. Each user can make his or her own bucket with the reports they have security access to. Reports: This is a list of all the reports inside of the Reports Portal including custom

  • reports. This list may change based on the user that is logged in and what

reports they have security access to + Add : Click this button to Add a bucket to either the Common Reports or My Reports You will be prompted to Name your category (bucket) once it is added Drag & Drop: Click on a report from the report list and drag and drop it into the desired bucket Reports can be added to as many buckets as desired.

Naming Buckets: Users with security access can click on an existing bucket’s name and change it to another name. Hit ENTER when you are done or your changes will not be saved Sorting Categories: Users with security access can Drag and Drop categories (aka Buckets) to sort them on the dashboard Trash Can Icon: Users with security access can delete a bucket by clicking the Trash Can icon on the top right side of each bucket Delete Reports from Buckets: Users with access can click the X next to the report in the bucket and delete it from that bucket. Smart Search Tool: Typing a word into the search box on the Reports will filter down the reports to only show the reports that fit that criteria

★ The location you are logged in at will default in the location field. ★ All search fields will allow you to multi select any combination of that fields data ★ Tick the Select All checkbox to select all of the options in any criteria field ★ Ticking the Use Empty Value box will enable you to not specify any value for that field. This is usually seen

  • n the Date To: or Date From and selecting it here will run the report with beginning or end date

★ Red asterisks indicate a required field ★ The View Report button will run the report with your given criteria. ★ The processing time to run a report will be determined by how many data fields and how much data that have to be processed. ★ The Show button will show and allow you to modify the search criteria once you have run the report. ★ The Back to List button will take you back to the list of reports.

Customizing Reports

To create your own report, start with one of ours. Look for our report that fits your criteria the closest. Make a copy of it and edit it until it is your custom report. By using an already created report as a template you give yourself data sets to work with rather than having to create your own data sets.

Report Subscriptions

Reporting Services Subscriptions will allow you to set up automatic emails of reports from your designated locations on a schedule of specified dates and times.

Only users with a standard version of SQL server will be able to create a working subscription. If you are a Web Hosted customer then you automatically have the eligible version of SQL. If you are a local customer, your program shipped with SQL Express which is not an eligible version for subscriptions. If you have purchase the Standard version or above of SQL then you can create a subscription. When you click NEW to create the subscription and you are not on an eligible version, you will receiving a WARNING that says so.
