 Advanced Information S

ystems.

 Risk Management.  Non-Intrusive Inspection.

2

Minutes of Last Meeting had 3 catch phrases

slide-3
SLIDE 3

 Covering Criticalities and Best Practices.  Efforts have started showing results.  Inter-country movements have started.

3

The 2 S tudies have been detailed However 3 areas need greater focus

slide-4
SLIDE 4

 Prioritizing options

 Examine whether weightage can be assigned to various

activities.

 This will improve monitoring.

4

Area 1

slide-5
SLIDE 5

 Introduce Human Interface

 There will be need to set up an organizational structure.  This will be in 2 areas:

(1) Inter – Country Regional Organization to be set up.

 UTLC is a success  S

uch establishments need to be encouraged

5

Area 2

slide-6
SLIDE 6

 Human Interface Contd… (2) S etting up of a Nodal Agency for liability and risk mitigation

 Let us learn from the T

.I.R. Convention in the Road S ector.

 It also gives comfort to Rail and Non-Rail Players.

6

slide-7

 In setting up both Regional Organization (like UTLC & Nodal Agency

(aka Road S ector) AITD can assist

 Member Railways  ES

CAP S ecretariat

 Freight Forwarder  Logistic Players  Customers

5

RoadRailer Concept An innovative bi-modal transportation technology wherein a “RoadRailer Unit (RRU)” operates as a

  • “Semi-Trailer” on Road mode

and

  • “Wagon” on Rail mode when coupled with bogies

RoadRailer technology provides Seamless door to door service by integrating speed & efficiency of rail with flexibility of road

6

RoadRailer – For Cross Border Transportation Adaptation for Transportation of goods by rail across countries having different gauges of rail track by –

  • Design and develop RoadRailer Unit as per common standard specification

suitable for cross border movement for movement of goods.

  • Design or adapt rail bogies suitable for RoadRailer Operations on a specific
  • gauge. Adapter design to be universal across all types of bogie to facilitate

coupling with RoadRailer Unit.

  • Wherever feasible identify interchange rail terminals where rail gauge
  • changes. Here RoadRailer Units can be decoupled from one set of bogies of

rake and coupled to another set of bogies to form a rake for onward journey.

slide-17
SLIDE 17

7

  • Where rail terminals having different rail gauges are at a distance, there, after

decoupling individual RoadRailer units can be driven across with the help of Prime Movers to the next terminal for rake formation for onward journey. RoadRailer technology thus can be deployed for seamless door to door transport

  • f goods across countries by rail which is a safe, faster, economical and

environment friendly mode of transport.

RoadRailer Benefits

  • a. Technological benefits:

1.

Bi-modal feature provides seamless door-to-door service complementing road & rail mode of transport

2.

Slack-less coupling in rail mode provides jerk-free movement

3.

Marginal gap of 25 cm between two RoadRailer Units (RRUs) makes the transportation safe and secure

4.

Aerodynamic design consumes – 25% less fuel in rail mode

5.

Air suspension enhances the riding quality on road mode.

6.

Elimination of multiple handling reduces damage and pilferage
