PIA Objectives for 2019

  • Association to review membership records to ensure the membership information that is held on record is up to

date.

  • Membership Survey. Clear understanding on what members really want from the Association.
  • Executive officers & Secretary position. Key positions to be updated and expressions of interest sort.
  • Introduce Digitalisation, such as live Streaming of AGM, E learning, LinkedIn, Facebook, Email Signatures for current

Members i.e. (Member of Pump Industry association)

  • Include Pool (Domestic & Commercial), Irrigation, Rural and Domestic Sectors to PIA.
  • Formalisation of Selection, Sales and Installation qualifications. Such as a generic VET qualification. Transferable to

Course at KSB Pumps in Brisbane in April, thanks to Dave Alexander and staff at KSB for all the assistance they gave tp make the course a success.

  • In addition to the change in AS 2795 for the Pipe

Friction Handbook I have a request to reinstate ABS pipes to the book this is currently under consideration any input from members will be welcome.

  • Began planning and preparation for the next

update of the Pump Technical Handbook. We are proposing s major overhaul of this handbook over the next 12 to 18 months and will shortly be looking for volunteers to form a Technical Committee to assist with this work. Anyone interested please contact me.

  • Review and prepare a submission to AIRAH on

their DA19 Maintenance Application Manual and Appendix. Having achieved most of my objectives, I would like to take to take this opportunity to thank Ken Kugler, Keith Sanders and Louise Black their assistance and cooperation this year would not have been such success.

The Department is now examining the potential to reduce energy use and energy costs for the commercial and industrial sectors, through setting minimum energy performance standards for the pumps, boilers and air compressors sold in Australia and New Zealand for use by industrial or commercial sectors

It is expected that the regulations could affect stakeholders that use this equipment in sectors including (but not limited to): agriculture, food and chemical processing, forestry, manufacturing, mining and minerals, water and wastewater, commercial building operation, wood and paper processing and construction. Sectors involved in the manufacture, import, export or retail of the equipment could also be affected. Timing: Early 2019
