  16. 2019 Centralised DSA-Sec Application Portal 18

  17. DSA-Sec Application Portal • DSA-Sec provides students an opportunity to enrol in a school based on their talents, potential and achievements that cannot be demonstrated through the PSLE . • To encourage students to tap on the expanded DSA opportunities, the DSA-Sec application process will be simplified • From the 2019 DSA-Sec , students will be able to apply for DSA through a centralised DSA-Sec Application Portal , using a common application form. • The portal will simplify and streamline the DSA application process, making it convenient for all students. 19

  18. From 2019 onwards…  Simplify and streamline DSA-Sec application • Reduce application hassle for students – single online application to multiple schools • Encourage more students with talent / potential to consider DSA- Sec for talent development, to tap on expanded DSA opportunities  Changes • Information on P5/P6 results and CCA records taken directly by the secondary schools from the MOE systems • Removal of testimonials from online application 20

  20. What’s in it for students 1. Centralised online applications – Applications will be centralised across all participating secondary schools. – Application window is open for four weeks from 8 May to 4 Jun 2019. – Applicants interested in SOTA and SSP will have to apply directly to the schools and follow their timelines. 2. Common application form – Parents can access the Portal using their SingPass login. Only one parent’s SingPass login is required. – Easy to complete – parents and students only have to key in contact details and their choices of talent area and school. Optional: The portal will also allow them to indicate any non-school-based achievements and activities related to the talent areas they applied for. Parents who are unable to access their SingPass can seek primary schools’ assistance . 22

  21. How students will indicate their choices 1. Each applicant can indicate up to three choices using the DSA-Sec Portal • For each choice, they will need to indicate a secondary school and a talent area from that school • Choice order does not matter. • This encourages students and parents to consider their choices carefully and commit to them, which is what we have advised in previous DSA exercises. 2. Applicant can choose to apply to two different talent areas, under the same school • Of the three choices, a maximum of two choices can be used to apply to the same school, for two different talent areas of that school. • This is to cater to students’ multiple interests, and allow them to choose different schools which can develop their strengths and interests. • Secondary schools have the prerogative to shortlist students for the stronger area 23

  22. How students will indicate their choices 3. Options for dual-track IP schools • Where the dual-track school offers the same DSA-Sec talent area to both tracks, the students will have the option of indicating preference for which track (IP or O-level) they are applying to, or indicating no preference. Note . Students can apply separately to SOTA and/or SSP, on top of the three choices made using the DSA-Sec Portal. 24
