From 2 nd Day of School, Thurs (3 Jan 2019) onwards • Flag Raising is at 7.30 am sharp • Wear school uniform and lanyard • P1 students will be ushered from School Bus Drop-off points or Gate 4 to the hall by Prefects. • Recess : 9.40 am to 10.10 am • Dismissal Time: 1.40 pm (From Week 2 Onwards) • Dismissal Point: Gate 4 (students walking home) Princess Court (Students taking the school bus & Student Care arrangement) 6

Recess • What to Bring?  Packed food that is spill-free OR  Pocket money in small denominations to buy food  Water bottle, wallet or purse should be labelled with full name and class • Buddy system: Thursday to Friday (3 Jan to 4 Jan)  A primary 2 student will be assigned to each child to befriend and help him/her during recess e.g. buying of food, going to the toilet/venue to assemble after recess. 7

School Attire • School shirt and PE t-shirt must be tucked in at all times • For girls only, after PE put on the skirts • Only white PVC/canvas shoes • Socks must be plain white and cover the ankles • For girls, only black or dark green (similar to school skirt colour) hair bands and clips are allowed • For girls, only small ear studs are allowed (No fancy types) 8

  9. School Attire • Name tag is compulsory for all students • Name tag should be ironed and sewn on the school uniforms and T-shirt • About 1cm above the school badge 9

  10. Lightening Student’s School Bags A Healthy Reminder HPB advisories : Students to carry weight of no more than 15% of their body weight Weight of bags carried by P1 to P4 students should not be more than 4.0kg. 10

School’s support • Teaching students the skills of packing their bags • Storing heavier materials (e.g. workbooks, subject files) in the classroom lockers/cupboards • Conducting periodic checks to sustain school’s efforts towards lightening students’ school bags • Reinforcing practices and reminding students 12

What Parents/Guardians can Do: Family’s support • Choice of School Bags: Select bags of lightweight material with few • compartments, and straps that are adjustable and cushioned Encourage your child to carry personal items in a • separate bag to distribute load Avoid using trolley school bag as it is heavy (even • without books) • Items in the School Bag: Do not bring heavy stationery items and other • unnecessary articles such as a 36-colour pencil box, a multi-compartment pencil case, a large water bottle and a bulky lunch box 13

Transition to Primary 1 – How can Parents/Guardians help? • Teaching your child to do some tasks independently like asking for permission, going to the toilet, counting money • Providing your child with some prior knowledge like counting from 1 to 10 • Preparing your child on the difference between pre- school and primary school. E.g. larger learning environment, longer school hours 14

Other Matters • Morning Assembly starts at 7.30 am sharp • Students are encouraged to be in the hall/classrooms earlier and read a book Day Venue Monday, Wednesday & Friday Classrooms Tuesday & Thursday Hall *Students who come before 7.20am on Tues & Thurs are to leave their bags in their respective classroom, take a story book (EL for Mon-Wed and MT for Thurs-Fri) and go to the hall. *Students who come in at or after 7.20am on Tues & Thurs will go straight to the hall with their bags. 21

Day School Hours Recess Monday to Friday 7.30 am to 1.40pm 9.40 am to 10.10am • Student’s Handbook – Students will receive a copy on the first week of school • Ensure that your child’s name is clearly written or labelled on all books, files and stationery items 22
