  6. Subsurface sectors New: in October 2018, POLE AVENIA incorporated three new sectors: mines and quarries, geotechnical services and hydrogeology. It now covers all the subsurface sectors. Pooled studies GEFISS G ouvernance E largie pour les F ilières d’ I ngénierie du S ous- S ol • State of play concerning best practices for managing the acceptability or non-acceptability of subsurface operating projects. • Research project: design, experiment and deploy the implementation of an original method combining operational activities and observations. Valorization of trace metals found in subsurface waters: • Nine metals of interest can be found in oilfield and geothermal waters. • Six possible technologies to extract these metals. • Reservoir by reservoir analyses to be conducted by technology owners Analysis of ways to valorize waste heat produced by the activities of subsurface industries • 37 reservoirs identified in France. • 12 identified valorization solutions. • Looking for partners who could use this waste heat as a resource. • 3 projects finalized. Deep subsurface energy valorization sectors: • Diagnosis: economic health, position, structuring, human requirements. • International benchmark. • Identification of potential technology transfers. • Prospective outlook and recommendations. GPEC drilling: forward-planning management study for jobs and skills in drilling: current offer, current and future needs, recommendations to structure the offer. 14

Accompanying projects In 2017, POLE AVENIA supported, accompanied or carried 21 RDI, research or training structuring, company creation/growth or coordination projects ▪ 8 certified projects, including 1 FUI, 1 ADEME, 5 ANR and 1 privately funded. ▪ 6 projects supported via a supporting letter. ▪ 1 multi-partner project currently emerging and being coordinated (GEFISS) from the Environment innovation club. ▪ 1 start-up being created and set up in the GEOSTART (GeoEspace) space. 3 start-ups accompanied in GEOSTART (Fébus optics, RealTimeSeismic, ▪ Botmatic). 1 start- up through the “Innovative Service” label (SpotLight/SpotDetection). ▪ 1 project to create a European geoenergy metacluster, GEO-ENERGY EUROPE, ▪ spearheaded by POLE AVENIA. 15

GEO-ENERGY EUROPE Project registered by POLE AVENIA as part of the COSME “Clusters GO International” call for projects in May 2017, notification of funding at the beginning of October 2017, budget €267 k, 75% financed, duration - 2 years.
