Mentoring

  • 174 new enterprises & 24 established enterprises

received mentoring support in 2011.

  • Hours varied per client, with clients receiving

information and guidance in book-keeping, marketing and basic business set-up. Some of the established enterprises were given information and assistance with PAYE and VAT.

  • In all €10,360 was spent on mentoring new &

established Entrepreneurs in 2011.

  • To Aug 31st 2012 - 61 new clients & 28 established

clients have received mentoring support.

Other L&CDP Enterprise Supports

Training

  • Eight individual clients in 2011 received funding

towards specifically targeted training to improve their options within the Labour Market.

  • The aim of this measure was to assist these clients

into self-employment. A budget of €4,167.00 was spent on the above measure.

Advice & Guidance

  • Very many more clients received advice and

guidance on returning to work and basic business set-up from the Enterprise Officer.

  • Assistance was also given in sourcing finance,

sourcing grant aid from the Rural Development Programme the County Enterprise Board, and in sourcing Insurance.

  • 2011 - 315 new clients in total received advice &

guidance of which 174 progressed onto self employment through the BTWEA.

  • 2012 (Jan – Aug) 234 new clients in total received

advice & guidance of which 151 have progressed onto self employment through the BTWEA

Prize-giving ceremony October 28th in Killorglin Competition renamed ‘RuralBiz’ in 2012 and launched in

Ann Marie was made redundant from FEXCO in 2011 and immediately registered with the South Kerry Local Employment Service for help and support in her job search. Since then she has completed a course in Customer Services and the internship will give her a whole new range of skills in areas that Ann Marie has identified as part of her future career goals. return to Kerry if SKDP secures a project extension from the EU

Bolus Loop Walk, Ballinskelligs

  • Two more beautiful looped walks developed and officially opened in 2011 –

Bray Head Valentia & Bolus Ballinskelligs. These routes were initiated by Community Groups but could not have been completed without the huge support and co-operation of the landowners in the areas and the Rural Social Scheme.

LOCAL & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME The Local and Community Development Programme aims to tackle poverty and social exclusion through partnership and constructive engagement between Government and people in the most disadvantaged communities. The programme prioritises marginalised people and groups within the most disadvantaged communities, which means that it targets those furthest from access to education, training and employment, and those at highest risk of social exclusion.

Companies must frame their annual plans for 2010-2013 within the context of these four goals. 1.Promote awareness, knowledge and uptake of a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community services 2.Increase access to formal and informal educational, recreational and cultural development activities and resources. 3.Increase the work readiness of people to enter the labour market. 4.Promote engagement with policy, practice and decision making processes on matters affecting local communities.
