Eye health policy in UK & I: BIOS Achievements Eye Health Indicator included on Public Health Outcomes Framework Royal College of GPs – eye health highlighted as one of four clinical priorities 2013-16 These were as a result of BIOS being an integral member of UK Vision Strategy (a cross-sector/ multi professional group)

  28. Pension changes for NHS workers – February 2012 We surveyed members on views on proposals and appetite for action… 436 BOSTU members indicated that four in ten would not actually strike and 18% didn’t know if they would or not. A formal ballot was not seen to be a good use of member’s funds given the lack of appetite to strike.

  29. Pension changes went through Changes in pensions - majority of health unions (including BOSTU) believing the offer was the best achievable given the stance of the Coalition Government in 2011/12. BOS TU will continue to use every opportunity to highlight the difficulties of some orthoptic staff working into their late 60s.

  30. Regional Pay issue Pay cartels and our fight to stop this practice…

  31. Member support Many cases in 2012 including: Downbanding, Restructuring and change, Dignity at Work Also Capability and Disciplinary e-learning package delivered More Branch support and follow up for face to face support of members and BOSTU reps
