Program Framework

The eastern region will focus on public and private preschools from Devonshire to St. George, targeting approximately 120 students

Each preschool will have a class twice per month

during the school year

Classes are held at Grotto Bay Tennis Facility Each class will be for 45 minutes to one hour

Program Criteria

The program will incorporate new regulations as advised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for junior tennis

  • development. The activities will

assist with the development of:

Motor Skills

Co-ordination

Teamwork

Sportsmanship

Tennis Etiquette Fundamental tennis skills will be taught during the various lesson plans.

Holding the tennis racket Racket – tennis ball contact Swing movement of the racket Eye – ball coordination Footwork, and drills In court – out of court Speed and movement drills

Program Team Leader Eastern Region

The Program for the Eastern Region will be managed by

Coach Romar Douglas

Romar Douglas has played tennis since he was 9 years old and has been a member of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) for the past twenty years. He was a top junior player and is currently ranked #6 in the BLTA men’s ranking. He has represented Bermuda in the United States as a junior and in Davis Cup as a senior. He was a Johnson C. Smith University Tennis Scholarship recipient and CIAA Men’s Tennis Team 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 All Conference Player. He is US Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), BLTA and International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level 1 certified, member of the BLTA Pro Association, 2013 Junior International Tennis Championship (JITIC) Under 14 National Coach, member of the BLTA Board and owner and operator of Grotto Bay Tennis Club. His passion is to continue the development of tennis in Bermuda, especially through the

TITLE SPONSOR: $25,000.00 per annum- The Program will be named after the sponsor; all correspondence will reflect the sponsor’s logo; the sponsor will be invited to participate in all media activity; the sponsor will have the opportunity to distribute marketing material quarterly promoting products that benefit the participants; the sponsor will receive a copy of the quarterly tennis development preschool report and news letter.

SUPPORTING SPONSOR: $15,000 per annum– The sponsor will be reflected as a Supporting Gold Sponsor on all correspondence; the sponsor will have an opportunity to visit with the students at the tennis facility; the sponsor will receive a copy of the quarterly tennis development preschool report and newsletter.

SUPPORTING SPONSOR: $7,500.00 per annum– The sponsor will be reflected as a Supporting Silver Sponsor on all correspondence; the sponsor will have an opportunity to issue a special note of encouragement to the students annually; the sponsor will receive a copy of the quarterly tennis development preschool report and newsletter.

CONRIBUTING SPONSOR: Donations up to $7,500.00

– The sponsor will be reflected as a Contributing Sponsor

and receive a copy of the quarterly tennis preschool

newsletter.
