I created a set of illustrated books stemming from the story of Tie Palm-Wine Drinkard by Nigerian writer Amos Tutuola. I divided the whole story into four parts and created separate illustrated book for each of them. Tie main idea of the story is travelling through difgerent surroundings. Tiat’s why the books difger from each other in their illustrations. By dividing the story into separate books I also wanted to slow down the reading to maximize the zest of reading text enriched by various concepts of illustrations. Tie tale is adventurous, imaginative with supernatural events and magic. Tie book is intended for both youth and adults with unlimited fantasy. Tie main character, drinkard, who is Father of Gods, with his wife takes a long journey into the underworld to fjnd his dead palm wine tapster. Drinkard needs his tapster to return to his service and tap palm wine for him again every day as he did before he died because the drinkard does not drink anything else than palm wine.

Story of the third book takes place in the Red bush where everything and everyone is red so the whole book is printed black on red paper. Illustrations are simple fmats of geometric shapes combined in computer. Tiese fmats are in fact diminutive grids and the red paper shows through them. grid, computer graphic 52 pages 195 x 210 mm

Tie fourth book contains end of the story where drinkard fjnds his tapster. Concept of illustrations in this book stems from fjnding a small black fjgure sprayed on walls of several houses in Pilsen. Tiis black fjgure represents the tapster. I eked these fjgures

Tie fjfth book is a CD booklet with a CD inside containing the whole story in audio fjles. In visual elaboration of this booklet is life of drinkard and his story transferred into reality. Drinkard exists through the social network Facebook, makes friends and communicates with us. Tie CD booklet displays a PC screen with drinkard’s Facebook profjle. Inside
