These are photos of some of the existing 100-year-old brick storm vaults — they are severly undersized and contribute to flooding issues. Phase 4 of the 33rd Street Outfall project will increase capacity throughout the whole system, taking pressure
like these.
WHY
The existing storm system underneath the streets in these neighborhoods is severly undersized — some are only 18 inches wide, which contributes greatly to flooding. The new box culverts we will be installing are 10 foot wide by 8 feet deep — that means almost 43 times as much water can flow through this new and improved system.
