Scene Documentation Team A Findings & Summary

by Anisja Cornish & Jairo Janez

The gray car did more of the damage because when we were talking to Kiki, she said she was going 60 miles per hour and Julia was going 45 miles per hour. Also, Kiki may have been distracted because Ashley was singing. Brittney claimed that they were not doing drugs but when we looked on the passengers’ side floor there were cigarettes. Ashley said that the accident happened about 10:30 am. Also, the skid mark were 104 inches. Kiki said she stopped at the red light but there were no red light there was a stop sign.

Scene Documentation Team B Findings & Summary

by Jamarian Brooks & Lakajah Davis

Kiki had many distractions. Kiki said she was singing while she was driving. But Julia saw Kiki smoking and on her phone. Julia also said that she waited for every car to go then she finally rode off. Then, Julia said Kiki ran into her with her head down. After the crash, Julia did not remember anything except hitting the

  • ground. I questioned Julia about whether she was wearing a seatbelt, she said

“yes” but that probably is not true because she thrown out of the car because of the crash.

Interview Team A Findings & Summary

By: Naomi Miller & Tyrik Scurry

Kiki, the driver of the silver car, was going 60 mph, which was to fast and made it hard for her to stop. Britney and Ashley were in the car with Kiki and may have been smoking which could have been another distraction, making it hard for Kiki to see. Kiki and Ashley were singing which could have been another distraction that caused Kiki not to focus on the road.

Interview Team B Findings & Summary

By: Rosalinda Vasquez & Valerie Gutierrez

Ashley said, “Kiki and I were singing. Kiki got carried away singing then saw a black car and tried to stop and then crashed into the black car. Kiki’s silver car was also going 60 mph and that is really fast so they could not stop and crashed into the black car, which made the black car flip over.

PES Group Conclusion

We believe that Kiki, the person driving the silver Mazda, caused the accident. There were many factors that led to the accident. First, Kiki was

speeding, doing 60 mph instead of 45 mph for the area. Secondly, Kiki didn’t stop at the stop sign because there were skid marks that went across the road leading to Julia’s car. Also, when we look at the marks of where the cars were hit, Kiki’s silver car hit the back side of Julia’s black car because we see damage to Kiki’s front bumper by the headlights. Finally, the impact from Kiki’s speeding car caused Julia’s black car to flip over.

Reflections

After participating in the CSI investigations, we learned many important things about crashes and the work that officers do.

1. Valerie-I liked interviewing the people in the crash and getting clues to happened on the scene. 2. Rosalinda-I enjoyed ask questions to the people that were in the car accident. 3. Tyrik-It was interesting to see how the skid marks were engraved on the pavement. 4. Naomi--I like how Julie, Ashley, Kiki and Brittany were able to clearly explain how the accident happened so that we could determine who caused the crash. 5. Jairo-Being on the phone while driving is a big distraction that can contribute to an accident. 6. Anisja - When driving, you should always wear your seatbelt. 7. Jakyla- Its important to follow the speed limit because when you speed it is hard to stop and can cause an accident. 8. Michaeria-If you’re passengers are distracting you, ask them to be quiet or wear headphones when they’re listening to loud music. 9. Jamarian-I learned that if you drink and drive and cause an accident and if someone gets hurt or killed you will go to prison . 10. Lekazjah-I learned that Math is important even in a crash scene investigation, because the officers used Math to figure out how fast the cars were going and how the crash happened. 11. Jacir-You need to be careful when driving by not speeding and not being distracted by passengers in the car. 12. Ahnyah--Always wear a seatbelt because if you get in a car crash, you might be thrown out of the car.
