HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR CHI LD I N LANGUAGE LEARNI NG?  Encourage your child to read books and other materials such as the newspapers and educational magazines.  Encourage your child to talk about the book or article that he/she has just read.  Ask him/her to explain his/her inferences and support them with contextual clues.  Ask him/her to retell or summarise what he or she has just read.  Encourage your child to look up the meaning of new and challenging words in the dictionary. Get him or her to construct his or her own sentence using the new word learnt to demonstrate his or her understanding of the word. 11/2/2019
