B A / D D S Program The p u r p o s e of t h e B A / D D S Program is to alleviate New M e x i c o ’ s d e n t a l d e n t i s t s h o r t a g e b y assembling a broadly d i v e r s e class of students who a r e committed to serving a s dentists in New Mexico communities with t h e greatest n e e d . • Recruit the “best and brightest” students to UNM, beginning F a l l 2013 for a f o c u s e d , c u s t o m i z e d undergraduate e x p e r i e n c e . Attract t a e n t e d h i g h school s t u d e n t i n s t o d e n t i s t r y , p a r t i c u l a r l y gifted students from rural, dentally undeserved communities who otherwise might n o t b e c o m e dentists. A s s u r e their e n t r y into dental school. • Request is a commitment t o 10 years of incremental and permanent recurring funding for a new program.
