Directions:

  • You may choose to begin wherever you like.
  • You may choose to complete a “BINGO”, vertically, horizontally, or

diagonally (not all choices will have the “your choice” square).

  • You must establish, after choosing your first topic, which direction

you will go, highlight the row, and record it with me.

  • Be sure that you are fully prepared to present your topic by

practicing at home, and using the assigned rubric and topic sheet.* Once you have used a particular topic from your row, cross off the square with a large “X”. You will continue to cross off the squares in the direction you have established until you have a completed BINGO! If you choose to repeat a topic only if you have “your choice” in your row, you must obtain permission from me first! YOUR CHOICE: For this option, you may also choose to do a topic that is not on the board; however, you must first obtain permission from me. Book talks are not allowed.

*Topic sheet requires parent assistance and signature.

Choose a picture book to read to the class. Choose an everyday item you use at home (toothpaste, deodorant, Wonder Bread...) and sell it to the class as if you were acting out a television commercial. Present a well- prepared speech on your intended career. Short story - Write a short story using these items: gum, a band-aid, a magic wand, and a soccer ball. Read the story to the class. Poetry - Memorize, recite, and interpret your favorite poem. Debate- take one point of view on a topic that is important to you; argue that view persuasively. News reporter: Report a breaking news story with inflection and poise. Interior monologue- Use a character’s personality traits and the context clues in your novel to create a monologue that reveals the inner workings of the character’s mind.
