4. Paying for Access

  • On private lakes, reservoirs &

canals – owners may charge

  • On ‘regulated’ rivers, canals and

harbours – may need licences

  • On tidal waters – Public Right of

Navigation  no charges for paddling

  • Along non-tidal rivers – may be a

PRN  charges would be inappropriate

  • To and from the water – may be

appropriate for owners to charge to access water and/or use facilities

  • Fees should be fair, reasonable

and proportionate to the costs incurred in providing & maintaining access & facilities

  • Canolfan Tryweryn
  • Exists to provide paddlesport on

the River Tryweryn

  • Costs of maintaining the facility

must be recovered  We charge paddlers a fee, not for using the river, but for making use

  • f our land to access the river and

use the facilities that support this

  • Other users are welcome to walk in
  • ur woods, eat in our café, or enjoy

watching white-water action for free
