OBJECTIVES OF FYP  The FYP gives students the opportunity to conduct an in- depth study in any of the areas of EEE courses offered.  Achieved through literature review, understanding and analyzing the problem, proposing solutions, and carrying out experiments (this involves the design and implementing the experimental setup or developing software).  Gives students exposure to research and the opportunity to apply what they have learned.  In the process, students will acquire skills for problem solving and lifelong learning. 6

  7. FYP ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1. Interim Assessment (by supervisor(s) and examiner) 1.1 Planning/Strategy - Assessed by supervisor(s) only  A short project plan/strategy report (2-3 pages)  No need to submit to Turnitin system for checking 1.2 Interim Report, Results, Achievement  Limited to 4-5 (A4) pages  Submit to Turnitin system for checking 2. Main Assessment 2.1 Project Final Report (by supervisor(s) and examiner)  Presentation of the report, proper acknowledgement of other people’s works  Theory, design and implementation  Introduction, indication of research through relevant literature review, comparison with relevant work, detailed discussion and substantiated conclusions  Results, quality of work and level of complexity  Submit to Turnitin system for checking 7

FYP ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 2.2 Project Demonstration/Interview (by examiner only) 2.3 Final Assessment (by supervisor(s) only)  Initiative and responsibility  Ability and independence  Updating supervisor regularly  Effort, contribution to project, planning, execution of plans  Outcome and overall level of achievement 2.4 Oral Presentation (by supervisor(s) and examiner)  Contents and organization  Effective presentation  Accurate rebuttals to questions  Oral presentation: 15 mins presentation and 10 mins Q/A When carrying out FYP, students should take into consideration the societal needs and the sustainability issues and include a discussion section on this in your FYP report. 8

FYP SELECTION Please go to the link below to select your Final Year project: • https://sso.wis.ntu.edu.sg/webexe88/owa/sso_redirect.asp?t=1&app=https://wis.ntu.edu.sg/ webexe/owa/fyp_eee_student.main • Click on "Listing of projects for selection" to view list of available projects. • Click on "View projects and allocated students" to view selection statistics. • Click on "Submit my choice of projects" to enter 3 projects of your choice. • Click on "View/ Modify my choice of projects" if you want to make changes to your selections before the closing date. • You will be notified of your allocated project after the closing date. 10

PROJECT SCHEDULE (WUHAN 2018) • Students will be given till noon 19 Jan 2018 (Fri) to choose their FYPs. • Students should begin their FYPs immediately after project allocation and preferably by 22 Jan 2018. 15 Feb 2018 Project Plan/Strategy 16 Mar 2018 Interim Report to supervisor(s) and examiner - Submit a short individual progress report consisting of normally 4-5 pages (A4 size) 20 Apr 2018 Draft of Final Report to supervisor(s) - Refer to Appendix A for guidelines. 27 Apr 2018 Final Report to supervisor(s) and examiner - The main body of the report should normally contain 40 - 60 pages (A4 size) 3 - 8 May 2018 Project Demonstration to examiner - Arrange with the examiner for a project demonstration. 17 May 2018 Oral Presentation to supervisor(s) and examiner 25 May 2018 Submit a Full-Text report of your project (soft copy) to the library through Digital Repository @ NTU. PROMOTION to MSc/MEng PROGRAM  Promotion is not automatic  The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) represents the grade average of all courses attempted by a student.  The computation of CGPA is as follows:  [Grade Point x AU for Course 1] +…+ [Grade Point x AU for Course X] [Total AU attempted in all the semesters so far]  Guidelines for promotion to: MSc - Min CGPA = 3.5 & MEng - Min CGPA = 4 13
