OBJECTIVES OF FYP

  • The FYP gives students the opportunity to conduct an in-

depth study in any of the areas of EEE courses offered.

  • Achieved through literature review, understanding and

analyzing the problem, proposing solutions, and carrying

  • ut experiments (this involves the design and

implementing the experimental setup or developing software).

  • Gives students exposure to research and the opportunity

to apply what they have learned.

  • In the process, students will acquire skills for problem

solving and lifelong learning.

FYP ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • 1. Interim Assessment (by supervisor(s) and examiner)

1.1 Planning/Strategy - Assessed by supervisor(s) only

  • A short project plan/strategy report (2-3 pages)
  • No need to submit to Turnitin system for checking

1.2 Interim Report, Results, Achievement

  • Limited to 4-5 (A4) pages
  • Submit to Turnitin system for checking
  • 2. Main Assessment

2.1 Project Final Report (by supervisor(s) and examiner)

  • Presentation of the report, proper acknowledgement of other

people’s works

  • Theory, design and implementation
  • Introduction, indication of research through relevant literature

review, comparison with relevant work, detailed discussion and substantiated conclusions

  • Results, quality of work and level of complexity
  • Submit to Turnitin system for checking

  • Accurate rebuttals to questions
  • Oral presentation: 15 mins presentation and 10 mins Q/A

When carrying out FYP, students should take into consideration the societal needs and the sustainability issues and include a discussion section on this in your FYP report.

  • A formal, type-written final report
  • Main body: normally 40 - 60 pages
  • 1.5 spacing is required
  • Times New Roman, font size 12
  • Margin: 35mm on the left hand side, 30mm for top, bottom and right

before the closing date.

  • You will be notified of your allocated project after the closing date.

PROJECT SCHEDULE (WUHAN 2018)

15 Feb 2018 Project Plan/Strategy 16 Mar 2018 Interim Report to supervisor(s) and examiner

  • Submit a short individual progress report consisting of normally 4-5 pages (A4 size)

20 Apr 2018 Draft of Final Report to supervisor(s)

  • Refer to Appendix A for guidelines.

27 Apr 2018 Final Report to supervisor(s) and examiner

  • The main body of the report should normally contain 40 - 60 pages (A4 size)

3 - 8 May 2018 Project Demonstration to examiner

  • Arrange with the examiner for a project demonstration.

17 May 2018 Oral Presentation to supervisor(s) and examiner 25 May 2018 Submit a Full-Text report of your project (soft copy) to the library through Digital Repository @ NTU. Refer to http://repository.ntu.edu.sg/drntu/procedure.htm 1 Jun 2018 Final report to main supervisor.

  • Students will be given till noon 19 Jan 2018 (Fri) to choose their FYPs.
  • Students should begin their FYPs immediately after project allocation and

preferably by 22 Jan 2018.
