BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Long-Term Accommodation Plan 2016-2021 contained a number of recommendations to address accommodation issues: • Short term recommendation for St. Kevin Catholic Elementary School to pursue community partnerships • Two Community Planning and Partnerships Meetings held on November 30, 2016 and December 13, 2017 • No interest to date in St. Kevin Catholic Elementary School partnership • Utilization projected to remain below 75% 8

MERRITT MEADOWS SUBDIVISION • Located in municipality of Thorold • Borders Welland Fairgrounds, Merritt Road, Hansler Road and St. Lawrence Drive (excluding). • St. Alexander catchment. Phasing • Phase 1 – 167 units have sold out and construction will be completed by end of 2018 • Phase 2 – 65 units – 75% sold out (constructed by end of 2018), remaining constructed by end of 2019 • Phase 3 – 25 detached and 64 towns will be built in 2020 10 10

Rationale: • distributing enrolment more equitably between the two schools • ensuring that are both are well utilized as opposed to one school operating at or even above capacity and the other well below • Due to timing of construction, affects few families at this point in time. 23 23
