Study Area Demographics – Population Density Transit Capacity and Quality of Service Manual, 3 rd Edition recommends a minimum of 8 residents/acre for fixed route transit* Residents per Acre < 1 1 - 2.5 2.5 - 5 5 - 10 *Based on average household size in the study area of 2.7 residents per > 10 5 dwelling unit.

Public Outreach • Survey conducted in October 2016 • Outreach methods included:  In-person outreach at the Northwest Transfer Center;  Survey flyers left at study area libraries;  HART staff rode study area routes and handed out survey flyers to passengers;  Survey link hosted on MPO website; and  Survey link sent to study area neighborhood associations and community groups . 21

  22. Public Outreach • 88 survey responses  58% percent were daily transit users  78% use transit as a primary means to commute  Top reason for taking transit: No access to a vehicle (61% of respondents) Survey Responses by Zip Code 22

  23. Public Input When asked which improvement is most important, respondents chose the following: 1. Route 34 – Increased frequency and extension to Oldsmar 2. Route 16 – Increased frequency 3. Increased HyperLINK service 4. New route on Ehrlich and Bearss 5. Route 61 LX – Extension to SR 54 23

Recommendations for all transit/trail connections: • Include trail access points on HART route maps; • Add trail access points to automatic stop announcements; • Improve transit information on Hillsborough County trails map, including: Defining the bus icon in the legend,   Identifying transit access points with route numbers, and Adding transit information on the back of the map;  • Add street signs to identify trail to motorists; and • Provide wayfinding signage between the bus stop and trail access. Specific recommendations for each connection are provided in the report. 26

  28. Recommended Action • Recommend approval of the Northwest Hillsborough Transit Study to the MPO Board. 28
