  • Amount Allocated: $3,000,000 ($1,000,000 from County of Kern

and $2,000,000 from City of Bakersfield)

  • Award Amounts: $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000
  • Deadline: 10/15/2020

Using resources from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Relief Fund to support nonprofits financially impacted by COVID-19 and unable to participate in the Kern Recovers Small Business Forgivable Loan Program. https://www.kerncounty.com

Eligibility Criteria

  • Demonstrate that funding is necessary due to the financial

impacts of COVID-19 and will be used to mitigate these impacts

  • Legally Organized Nonprofit Entity (IRS – 501)
  • Actively registered to do business by the California

Secretary of State

  • Physically headquartered in Kern County, as documented

with the IRS or California Secretary of State

  • Primarily serve the constituents of Kern County
  • Directly provide a service or good available to, or

benefitting, the general public

  • Have received funding under the Kern Recovers Small

Business Forgivable Loan Program

  • Use grant proceeds for an inherently religious purpose
  • Be exclusively engaged in lobbying
  • Be primarily engaged in distributing funds to other
  • rganizations or individuals
  • Be an educational institution
  • Be a governmental or quasigovernmental entity
  • Be a social, recreational, sports, or booster club
  • Be a private foundation

These organizations are ineligible:

  • 2019 Annual Revenues
  • Demonstrated Revenue Loss

➢ Actual decrease in revenues from 3/1/20-7/31/20 compared to 3/1/19-7/31/19 ➢ Support for projected loss of revenue from 8/1/20- 12/31/20

  • Demonstrated COVID-19 extraordinary expenses

(optional)

  • COVID-19 related financial assistance already received

from any other sources such as: Federal PPP, Federal IDEL, and State grants
