General Information
- Amount Allocated: $3,000,000 ($1,000,000 from County of Kern
and $2,000,000 from City of Bakersfield)
- Award Amounts: $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000
- Deadline: 10/15/2020
Using resources from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Relief Fund to support nonprofits financially impacted by COVID-19 and unable to participate in the Kern Recovers Small Business Forgivable Loan Program. https://www.kerncounty.com

Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrate that funding is necessary due to the financial
impacts of COVID-19 and will be used to mitigate these impacts
- Legally Organized Nonprofit Entity (IRS – 501)
- Actively registered to do business by the California
Secretary of State
- Physically headquartered in Kern County, as documented
with the IRS or California Secretary of State
- Primarily serve the constituents of Kern County
- Directly provide a service or good available to, or
benefitting, the general public

- Have received funding under the Kern Recovers Small
Business Forgivable Loan Program
- Use grant proceeds for an inherently religious purpose
- Be exclusively engaged in lobbying
- Be primarily engaged in distributing funds to other
- rganizations or individuals
- Be an educational institution
- Be a governmental or quasigovernmental entity
- Be a social, recreational, sports, or booster club
- Be a private foundation
These organizations are ineligible:

- Employee Count
- 2019 Annual Revenues
- Demonstrated Revenue Loss
➢ Actual decrease in revenues from 3/1/20-7/31/20 compared to 3/1/19-7/31/19 ➢ Support for projected loss of revenue from 8/1/20- 12/31/20
- Demonstrated COVID-19 extraordinary expenses
(optional)
- COVID-19 related financial assistance already received
from any other sources such as: Federal PPP, Federal IDEL, and State grants

You will need electronic copies (pdf, Word, Excel, png, or jpg) of the following: ➢ Most recent federal tax filing: Form 990 or Form 990-EZ ➢ Articles of Incorporation ➢ IRS Determination Letter ➢ Corporate By-Laws ➢ Certificate of Status from the California Secretary of State (www.sos.ca.gov ) ➢ Brief description of intended use of the grant ➢ Revenues for the 5-month periods 3/1/20-7/31/20 and 3/1/19-7/31/19, if in operation during that time period
