Açaí (ah-sah-ee) is a small purple fruit from a special palm tree in the Amazon. It has been an essential part

• f the local tribes’ diets. The word açaí comes from the

local indigenous language, Tupi-Guarani, and it means "fruit that cries". An allusion to the delicious juice inside the fruit. Crying with joy.

The riverside communities of the North of the country live through the fruit trade. They climb about 20 meters in the “açaízeiros” using a kind of cloth on the feet called "peconha", cut the bunches full of acai and threshed in baskets. The baskets go to the factory to select the best fruits. That done, the fruits are soaked in a solution to soften and facilitate the pulp. After that we pasteurize the fruit and process to package them as a pulp or sorbet.

The Ararajuba is a rare, native bird from the Amazon forest famous for feeding on various fruits but mainly açaí berries. It is a graceful, exotic, Brazilian bird that has a personality with interesting values. One of which is the fact that it is a very loyal bird that lives its life solely for a single partner.
