  7. About the New School • The vision for the school for me is Establish a learning community that can continually demonstrate that regardless of student diversity or location within a socio economic area, that students when surrounded with high expectation, a supportive community and the right conditions for learning, they can Exceed Expectations

  8. About the New School What is going to make us stand out • Designing learning for all students (differentiation). • Use the facilities to promote science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. • Use technology within learning to support different learning styles and keep students engaged.

  9. About the New School Community engagement • The school will link with pre prep providers, high schools, universities, T.A.F.E., community groups. • The school will become a ‘centre for the community’. • Strong family involvement within the school to demonstrate the importance of education.

  10. About the New School High expectation • The values and beliefs of the school community will be reflected through everything we do – How we learn and teach – How we interact between each other – How we behave – What we write in our school policy documents

  11. About the New School Staff • At the commencement of 2017, the school will have a Deputy Principal, a Business Services Manager, administration officers, and an estimated 12 to 15 teachers, teacher aides, a schools officer and cleaners. • The number of teachers and teachers aides will be dependent upon enrolment numbers.

  12. About the New School • Currently, advertisement for the Deputy Principal and the Business Services Manager is underway. These positions will be finalised and filled over the next three to four weeks. • Currently, an EOI for teachers is underway. I will shortlist and interview all potential teaching applicants for the new school. • Teachers, although not officially attached to the school, will be used over the remainder of the year to assist in resourcing the school and starting to build the school values and culture.

  13. About the New School • Teacher Aides will be recruited via standard EQ HR processes. Keep an eye on the website and the QT. • Non teaching staff (eg cleaners and ground staff) positions will be advertised via seek.com

  14. Enrolment Managed School • The new Primary School in Redbank Plains will be an enrolment managed school. A School EMP is implemented in a school to assist in avoiding enrolment spikes from out-of- catchment students, which results in the oversupply of infrastructure in some schools and underutilisation of infrastructure in neighbouring schools. • A catchment area has been confirmed from which the new school will accept enrolments for students. The catchment map will be available on DET’s EdMap website: http://www.qgso.qld.gov.au/maps/edmap in the coming weeks. • Hard copies are available tonight for perusal.

  15. Independent Public School (IPS) • The school will continue to remain part of the State’s strong public schooling system and continue to have access to the same support as other Queensland state schools and maintain the same core values. • School fees, uniforms and booklists, etc will be the same/comparable to other state schools. The community consultation groups will play a vital role with this. • The Independent Public School initiative is intended to provide: – Enhanced local governance – Locally tailored workforce – Financial flexibility
