The European perspective

  • The EU is a unique and essential partner for NATO. The two
  • rganisations share a majority of members, and all members of both
  • rganisations share common values (Strategic Concept 2010)
  • The EU and NATO are already working together on a wide array of

important issues: hybrid warfare, defence industry, wide-area security issues (Ukraine, Balkans, Georgia, Sahel, piracy, traffjcking), Smart Defence and pooling/sharing, an efgective maritime strategy and comprehensive approach in crisis management

  • The Foundation has solid expertise on European hi-tech, defence and

hard/soft security matters

NDCF: Strategic Trends

Three types of Strategic Trends are provided by area specialists:

  • The fjrst is focussed on Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the

Black Sea, Russia, China and Emerging Challenges (terrorism, maritime security, cybersecurity etc.)

  • The second looks at strategic trends in major Middle East

countries, adding to the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative

  • A third is looking at Africa
