We accomplish this mission by providing warnings and forecasts of hazardous weather 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including:

  • Thunderstorms (Damaging Winds and Hail)
  • Flooding (Rivers and Low Lying Areas)
  • Tornadoes
  • Winter Weather (Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Blizzards)
  • Extreme Temperatures (Heat, Bitter Cold, Frost/Freeze)
  • Impacts to Aviators

The NWS is the sole United States OFFICIAL voice for issuing warnings during life-threatening weather situations.

NWS CHANHASSEN AVIATION PROGRAM

We issue 4 routine TAFs for KAXN, KSTC, KRWF,

KEAU, KRNH & KMSP daily (00z, 06z, 12z, 18z) and amendments as needed

For KMSP, we also issue mandatory 3-hourly

amendments at 03z, 09z, 15z and 21z

We issue aviation discussions with every routine

TAF issuance

Our products are used extensively by MSP MAC,

Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, GA pilots
