DAQ Air Permit Application Review Process

This application is for the replacement of two existing

permitted baghouses.

Replacement is necessary as a part of maintenance of

the facility.

The baghouses control particulate matter emissions from

Receiving Pit 1 and Receiving Pit 3.

  • Rec. Pit 1 was installed in the 1980’s
  • Rec. Pit 3 was installed in the early 1970’s

1/22/18 DAQ received an application for an air permit to

construct two replacement baghouses.

Emissions: produces emissions of particulate

matter (PM) from control of Rec. Pits 1 and 3.

Each pit potential to emit 0.0050 ton/year PM10 Baghouses - 99.9% efficient Collected material is returned to the receiving

pits

Receiving pits store corn, barley or wheat

DAQ Permitting

If Secretary approves the permit, then

DAQ will issue construction permits that will:

meet strict air quality standards under the

Federal and Delaware State regulations

DAQ permits are supported by a detailed

technical review and include permit conditions that will protect the environment and public health

Additionally, permit may contain conditions to

address issues raised at this hearing

If permits issued, then DAQ will conduct a

construction-to-operation inspection and require monitoring and reporting that DAQ reviews for compliance with the permits

Normal permit conditions include:

Require the plant and controls to meet strict

emissions limits protective of human health and the environment

Record operating data and keep the data for 5

years: Daily total quantity of grain received,

  • perating hours, pressure drop across

baghouses, monthly record of routine/non- routine maintenance

Report deviations from permitted conditions Opacity observations
