In 1996 Streamer introduced a new revolutionary solution for Line Lightning Protection based on the long flashover technology, launching loop type of Line Lightning Protection Device (LLPD). The idea was simple – to divide the power arc into pieces and to break the follow current when it reaches zero by using ambient air cooling. The new generation of LLPD is based on the multi-chamber system (MCS), which is also known as EasyQuench System (EQ system). The basic principle of energy dissipating stayed almost the same, meanwhile the concept was changed.

The fact, that Streamer LLPDs provide the best Line Lightning Protection has already been proved by positive results. From the recent report from the utility in Guangzhou, China: The line had 17 trips before installing LLPDs in 2014, and no trips were observed in two years after LLPD deployment. It was noticed that LLPD has much longer lifespan than MOA they used to install before, which for utility means lower maintenance cost.
