  • Oct. 5-6: re-align

westbound SR 520

  • Oct. 28: traffic shift and

Arboretum ramp closure Graham will close westbound SR 520 the weekend of Oct. 5-6. During the closure, crews will set up temporary barrier, as well as pave and stripe the road. Following the weekend closure, westbound travelers will drive on a new SR 520 roadway between 24th Avenue East and Montlake Boulevard. Graham will shift all eastbound traffic over Lake Washington to the existing westbound bridge on Oct. 28, at the conclusion of the weekend work. Work will require a closure of both directions of SR 520 to switch traffic. In the weeks following the traffic shift to the westbound bridge, the eastbound Arboretum on-ramp will permanently close.

  • Sept. 23-27: Montlake Market drilling

WSDOT will drill near the Montlake Market and 76 gas station during the daytime to evaluate the extent of soil contamination for future clean up.

Wha hat to e t to expect xpect: : day and night noise

  • Different types of equipment result in

different levels and kinds of noise.

  • During nighttime construction, there are

stricter rules for noise levels and the types of equipment allowed.

  • Electronic noise meters record noise

levels throughout the project area.

  • We’ve received a Major Public Project

Construction Noise Variance, which allows higher decibel levels than normally allowed by city ordinance for noise between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

  • Crews may work 24 hours a day, seven

days a week throughout construction.

  • Typical work hours for the loudest

(impact) work: – 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays – 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends and holidays Independent noise monitors will be present for night work to ensure compliance with specified noise levels.

Our 24-hour hotline is the best way to report noise complaints and have concerns addressed in the moment.

Wha hat to e t to expect xpect: : vibrations and closures

  • Vibration: Various construction activities will cause vibrations.

Vibration monitors have been installed throughout the project area. Contact WSDOT if you are concerned about damage due to vibration and would like a home inspection.

  • Closures and lane reductions: People driving through the Montlake

area may be affected by full closures and single direction/multi-lane

  • closures. Pedestrians and cyclists may be affected by intermittent

closures, short-term detours, and long-term closures to sidewalks and trails.
