• Describe the upcoming Georgia DPH awareness

referral campaign

• Understand WIC’s role in issuing these materials
• Implementation date and next steps

Purpose of Milestone Moments

Health education campaign to promote awareness

• f:
• Healthy developmental milestones in early

childhood- awareness

• Importance of tracking each child’s

development- parent’s tracking

• Importance of acting early if there are concerns-

referral to Children 1st or Pediatrician

Pamphlet Booklet

Where We Are

• Children and Youth with Special Healthcare

Needs has developed draft training

• Training will include expectations of WIC staff for

participant education

• Once training complete, distribution of materials

can begin

Who Will Receive Materials?

• Districts encouraged to share materials at every

infant and child certification

• Also to any parent that has concerns about his or

her child’s development

WIC CPA Role

• Can give brief description to parents on type of

information

• Will not be educating on any of the information

contained in either handout

Children 1st Referral

• The Milestone Moments booklet contains

Children 1st referral information for every district

• Parents can contact local Children 1st

Coordinator with more questions

• Working to possibly set up automatic referral

process

Timeline of Use of Current Materials

• Materials only approved for use through end of

March 2017

• After March 31st, 2017 materials need to be

disposed of

• New updated materials will be sent out to

continue distribution

Start Date

• Materials will be mailed soon. (Currently in the

state warehouse)

• Distribution can begin in January after training is

completed by staff

• Action memo will go out as well

District Responsibilities

• Assure all staff complete training when it is

available

• Assure all clinics have materials
• State-wide implementation planned for January

Summary

• Milestone Moments materials should be

received soon

• Training will be finalized and shared

statewide

• Distribution of current materials can begin

after training and will be discarded on March 31, 2017
