  • Three ways for student’s to get involved:
  • 1. Do EXTRA laps at recess & check in after EACH

EXTRA lap completed. 1st lap is required of all, all EXTRAS count toward Milers Club.

  • 1. Obtain a pedometer, complete & hand in

pedometer logs each week

  • (Grade 2-4 ONLY, unless purchase own pedometer)
  • 2. Complete ‘ACTIVITY LOGS’ each week

recording all the CONTINUOUS physical activity they do OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL.

Pedometer Use Guidelines Pedometer Use Guidelines

  • 1. Only 1 pedometer may be given to each SES

student while at SES.

  • 2. If you see someone shaking their pedometer

please report it to Mrs. Serrell or Mr. Neff.

  • 3. If you lose, damage or break it you are

responsible for replacing it or reimbursing SES $15. There will be a monthly check to make sure you still have your pedometer. If your are not using it to participate in the program, we will ask for the pedometer back to let another student use it.

  • 4. If the screen goes blank, it’s probably the battery

that needs replacing. You are responsible for buying a new battery at Radio Shack.

  • 5. Must fill out Pedometer log properly daily &

hand in log each Monday.

  • 6. ABSOLUTELY NO SHAKING, we will be

forced to take away your pedometer if we see

  • r hear about this.
  • 7. Reset the pedometer to “00000” each night.
  • 8. Must make improvements in steps count or

maintain 12,000 steps steps or more per day.

  • 9. If wearing pedometer while doing extra laps at

recess, there is no need to check in, your pedometer will record your extra steps.

– Monthly Miler’s Club Awards with “Feet”, “Big Feet” and/or special monthly Token. – Top 3 Totals for the month get pictures hung on “Milers of the Month’ poster. – Top 5 Totals for the year get a T-shirt & an invitation to a special celebration breakfast at the Sip N Soda.

  • Class

Class: class with most miles by year’s end gets a party with healthy foods & an entire extra recess period.

  • Encourage your child to get involved.
  • Exercise with your child! They look to

you as role models/

  • Help student remember logs, check &

sign each night. If they aren’t getting the 12, 000 steps they need encourage & seek out more activity.

  • Make sure your child DOESN’T cheat

themselves & the program by shaking the pedometer.

  • Buy and eat healthy foods with correct

portion sizes for your child.

VITAL Relay Committee VITAL Relay Committee

  • Get involved in helping to fund our

program by volunteering to be a part of the 2011 VITAL RELAY planning committee.

  • We are hoping to have our first official

committee meeting in October 2010.

  • The VITAL Relay is slated for October
