  9. Quizzes: Poss. Improvements Include more applied, Don’t collect harder questions (5) immediately, allow individual questions Make them smaller/ during lab time easier (2) Questions could be Include more key clearer points, don’t omit key points (2) Give more time to answer questions Just make them fill-in- the-blank Include more overview/opinion questions

  10. HW Difficulty 30 24 18 12 6 0 Much Too Hard Somewhat Hard Somewhat Easy Much Too Easy

  11. HW Helpfulness 15 12 9 6 3 0 Very Helpful Somewhat Helpful Somewhat Unhelpful Very Unhelpful

  12. Homework: Working Well Good content, (Revised) grading reinforces lecture (7) scheme Good practice (6) Can do it offline Due once weekly (2) Helpful/realistic practice (2) Shows what I don’t know (2) Examples in class (2) Not overkill

  15. Lab Helpfulness 15 12 9 6 3 0 Very Helpful Somewhat Helpful Somewhat Unhelpful Very Unhelpful

  16. Labs: Working Well Practical experience, Good balance of hand- hands-on (13) holding and self- study Short, can be done in class (4) Everything! Good content, Good complement to lecture (8) Eased me into SQL Server 2005 Very thoroughly explained

  17. Homework: Poss. Improvements Use more complex Less emphasis on examples, problems reading/searching, (6) more on doing Make Instructions Add optional tasks Clearer (4) for further practice “I waste hours on More labs, less simple tasks” lecture More hand-holding More raw SQL instead of GUI Allow more flexibility, less hand- Use MySQL instead of holding SQL Server More doughnuts

  18. Other Comments Keep up the good work Class harder than (4) expected 8 am is too early (2) HW, quizzes, & exams are abstract/opinion. I hate getting the HW There are not clear 90% right and getting right/wrong or best a 67% (note: 2/2.4 = answers 83%) Make tests shorter Grading scheme is cruel Good course layout so far Compare/constrast with other DBMS More help in labs
