2001 – Use in pears banned as a consequence of MRL Reduction from 3 mg/kg to 0,05 mg/kg Although:

“Chlormequat was the most commonly reported pesticide found in pears between 1997 and 2001 (63% of samples)”

Assessment of potential impact:

Top fruit (apples and pears): Historical data shows that 8% of the pears and 2% of the apples would have exceeded the new MRL. Stone fruit (peaches, nectarines and flat peaches): Historical data shows that 4-6% of samples would have exceeded new MRL. Chinese cabbages (9% of samples would have exceeded the new MRL), chilli peppers (6%), artichokes (4%), grapes (3,7%), cabbages (2,2%), raspberries (2%), kiwis (1,7%), tomatoes (1,6%), melons and watermelons (1,2%), potatoes (0,7%) and peppers (0,2%).
