  11. VIRTUS • The USCCB states that all dioceses/eparchies are to maintain “safe environment” programs • Evaluate the background of those engaged in ongoing contact with minors. Who needs the VIRTUS Program? • All clergy, church employees and certain volunteers. • Training is mandatory for all volunteers who have access to children/youth • Includes minors in your ministry membership • outside functions as part of your ministry where minors are present • minors brought to your ministry meetings. For a list of ministries required to take this training please see me after our meeting.

  12. Adult Programs 1. Protecting God’s Children (PGC) • First workshop for those required to take it • 3-hour session is offered in different parishes • Requires a background check via Fastrax → VIRTUS website 2. Keeping the Promise Alive (KPA) • within 12 months after the 5 th year anniversary of the PGC date • New criminal background check will be performed

Protecting God’s Children online version 3.0 (2 nd refresher)  Must be done within 2 months of the 5-year KPA anniversary date  A new background check will be performed All of the programs require pre-registration on www.virtusonline.org. No walk- ins will be accepted. Review of Monthly Training Bulletins at VIRTUS Onlinewebiste • required for certain groups, including Parish employees/volunteers in leadership positions for ministries involving children & youth All ministries who are required to take VIRTUS must turn in their membership lists with VIRTUS compliance by early May.
