Summary:

• 67.2% of all children with single

working mothers receive non- parental care

• 9,498 children in Monroe County

aged 0-5

• 5,763 children can be served with

all daycares at maximum capacity

• Up to 3,735 children can never be

served Conclusion:

• The demand for child care in

Goals of Keystone STARS

• To improve the quality of early

care and education

• To support early care and

education providers in meeting their quality improvement goals

• To recognize programs for

continuous quality improvement and meeting higher quality standards

• To provide families a way to

choose a quality early care and education program

Are there various daycares per area that have multiple keystone stars?

Summary:

• 69.74% of daycares that were

surveyed were found to have just 1 star.

• Only 27.63% of daycares have

multiple stars. Conclusions:

• Yes, there are daycares in Monroe

county with multiple stars, yet one star daycares outnumber multiple star daycares greatly.

Does the number of Keystone Stars a daycare has affect the cost?

Summary:

• Providers enroll voluntarily in the Keystone

STARS program and there are no charges for the provider to enroll. Costs to parents are set only by the provider themselves. Keystone STARS provides many child care providers with targeted financial assistance to help them continue to improve quality so they do not have to pass the cost on to families.

Conclusions:

• The number of stars a daycare has does

NOT affect the cost of the daycare where some 1 star daycares would cost much more than 3 or 4 stars
