PBIS--Big Ideas

PBIS is not a curriculum - it is a framework to identify needs, develop strategies, and evaluate practice toward success Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a process for teaching children appropriate behavior and providing the supports necessary to sustain that behavior.

Lilja’s PBIS Process:

  • Redefine Lilja’s mission statement and core values.
  • Define expectations for core values throughout areas of

the school (hallway, cafeteria, all school assembly, recess, arrival and dismissal)

  • Teach positive expectations to students.
  • Reward positive behavior through a recognition

system--Pride Paws.

  • Classroom and school-wide reward systems for

expected behavior.
