  3. How does the dashboard support district alignment? LCAP • Alignment of improvement criteria to state accountability measures. • More focused Actions/Services based on unduplicated and student group needs. SPSA ◦ Stronger connection of goals and actions. ◦ Site specific improvement targets.

If Newark Unified School District were a STEAM focused school district where coherent curriculum in science, technology, engineering, arts and math were aligned with the common core standards then students would be... Capable of conducting real-world STEAM projects and inquiry; Capable of authentic and collaborative problem solving; Capable of creative and authentic demonstrations of their learning; Proficient in applying multidisciplinary knowledge and skills through STEAM; Proficient in using critical thinking skills and asking and answering higher order questions; Proficient in English and other languages in order to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders and to succeed on a global community; and Knowledgeable about and interested in STEAM careers ...through a sense of community that fosters collaboration, critical thinking, communication, creativity and all students feel valued.

LCAP Needs for 2017-18 • Based on Feedback and Data • Focus on Math and Data– Partnership with Silicone Valley Math Initiative to build common understandings and consistent student performance • Data- New data system Illuminate and continued support for iReady DATA TOSA to support work at school site and parents • Maintaining positive climate with deeper work with PBIS- reflected in site plans and district plan • Focus on parent workshop and tools- online resources for parents, on site workshop support, tools to support students at home

LCAP Needs for 2017-18 • After school program- Drop in homework clubs and also targeted after school opportunities • Literacy- Continued support with Readers’ and Writers’ workshop but also aligned , teacher created Common Formative Assessments (CFA) (Illuminate) -Data • STEAM- Each site will plan and enact an afterschool program for students that is enriching and targeted for students to stretch their learning – enrichment/acceleration • After school homework centers at two sites for use by all students

  7. Activity 1. Review last month’s meeting summary 2. At your table review the input from the group and identify what still needs to be addressed 3. Once your group has identified a list , prioritize on a poster, two actions that would address the needs. 4. Post, gallery walk, dot activity
