Associate of Arts in General Studies Associate of Science in General Studies

Degree Options

Designed for students who would like to benefit from two years of a broad, general college education. General studies students develop their ability to think critically and analytically, to write effectively, to work well with others, to solve problems creatively. Designed for students interested in pursuing a 4-year degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or

  • Mathematics. The “A.S.” degree includes the same

basics subjects as an “A.A.” The only difference is that students take more math and science classes overall.

Junior Year

Take FOUR college classes in the fall and

FOUR college classes in the spring. Freshman Year

Start in Methods of Academic & Personal Success elective and take ONE college class in the fall or spring (PE).

Sophomore Year

Take TWO college classes in the fall and

TWO college classes in the spring. Senior Year

Take FOUR college classes in the fall and

FOUR college classes in the spring.

Family Information

Students and parents provide basic background information.

Reflection Essays

Three written reflections are required. Students should respond to all three questions in the application.

Interview Session

Parents and students need to attend an interview session at the Jack E. Singley Academy to complete the as part of the application process.

Professional-style gathering for applicants to introduce themselves to current ECHS staff and students.

Applications due January 17, 2020. No late applications will be accepted.

  • Student online application in English and Spanish.
  • Application Window: November 11, 2019- January 17, 2020.
  • Students and parents will be asked to participate in an interview.
  • Notification of acceptance will be on February 21, 2020.
  • Students are required to attend a Summer Bridge Program in June.
  • If more than 125 qualified students apply, there will be a lottery

process to determine placement.
