Responsibilities of the Health & Wellbeing Board • To prepare a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment • To produce a Health and Wellbeing Strategy, based on needs identified in the JSNA • To encourage closer working and integration between health and wellbeing partners • Commissioners must consider the JSNA and Health and Wellbeing Strategy when developing their own commissioning plans • If commissioning plans do not reflect the health and wellbeing strategy, the Health & Wellbeing Board can write to the NHS Commissioning Board (NHS England), or local authority outlining their reasons

Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2012-13 • First Health & Wellbeing Strategy agreed April 2012 • Based on existing strategies of partner organisations • 14 priorities: – Prevention: Behaviour Change & Social attitudes – smoking, obesity, drugs and alcohol – Children, Young People & Families – health & wellbeing areas from CYPF Plan – Adult and Health Inequality Priorities – Learning disability, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Physical Disability, Long Term Conditions and Sensory Impairment, Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing, Dementia, Older People – The Wider Determinants Of Health & Wellbeing - Education, Personal Attainment & Aspirations, Crime & Community Safety (inc domestic violence) Healthy environments in which to live, work and play (inc. housing) – Carers

  4. Progress to date • Joint Strategic Needs Assessment refreshed, identified similar priorities • Integrated commissioning structure established and priority actions agreed • Focus on areas that Health and Wellbeing Board adds greatest value • Produce improvements in short term, whilst maintaining work on longer term areas

  5. Proposed Principles for Health & Wellbeing • Principles identified to improve health & wellbeing : – Prevention and early intervention - Reinvest earlier in pathways to help prevent future problems – Supporting people to retain their independence – Improve their own health and wellbeing, and reduce the need for traditional services – Promoting integration across partners - Strong leadership across partners to join up services and deliver consistent messages on key issues • Priorities from JSNA reflecting local need

  6. 16 Proposed Priorities 2014 -16 – Prevention, Behaviour Change & Social attitudes – tobacco control, obesity & weight management, drugs and alcohol, sexual health – Children, Young People & Families – proposed health and wellbeing areas for the Children, Young People and Families Plan – Adult and Health Inequality Priorities – carers, mental health & emotional wellbeing, physical disability and sensory impairment (long term conditions), older people, dementia, learning disability, autistic spectrum disorders. – The Wider Determinants Of Health & Wellbeing - Community Safety & violence prevention - domestic violence. Healthy environments in which to live, work and play – housing and workplace health

  7. Strategy Consultation • Formal launch today till 26 September 2013 • Seven district events across Nottinghamshire working with LAs, CCGs and HealthWatch • Online consultation • Use existing engagement and consultation mechanisms where possible inc. libraries
