PROFESSIONAL BODIES

Town Planners advised that there should be effective coordination between LASSPDA & LASBEA to mitigate negative consequences that may arise from the separation of planning regulation from building control Engineers urged the Committee to ensure that all testing of buildings should be done by qualified professionals in the built environment Builders called for the mandatory use of professional builders in building construction Estate Surveyors called for the commencement of a comprehensive Urban Renewal Programme

building site into the Project Secretariat, State Chapter offices for built environment professionals and their regulating authorities.

1. Commence restructuring of LASPA for operational effectiveness and separate Building Control from existing framework for Planning Approval, pending creation of LABCA

  • 2. Review the Regional Plan for Lagos and prepare

development plans for all levels in the State

  • 3. Refocus Master Plans already commissioned to

concentrate on upgrading of infrastructure and improvement of existing development

  • 4. Replace on-going “model city” plans with Development

Guides in all LGA and LDAs to serve as briefs for Regional Plan review.

relocate them to designated parks for ease of monitoring
