More pixels = larger
images with more detail and a higher quality
Use the highest
resolution for your needs – better to edit and reduce a file than to try to enlarge it
By comparison, a Canon
7D shoots video at a maximum of 1920 x 1080
Aspect Ratio
Aspect ratio is the width to height ratio of the image you will capture Widescreen 16:9 is best when you have enough room
to capture the scene you want, giving the footage you capture a more cinematic feel. This is also the ratio modern TV’s use.
SuperView is an additional setting GoPro calls the “world’s most immersive wide angle
perspective”. It films in 4:3, but displays it automatically as widescreen shot. Great for up close or body mounted shots where the entire subject doesn’t fit in the frame. The subject does need to be centered in the frame however, to reduce distortion.
A standard 4:3 ratio is useful for close up shots or for
POV (point of view) shots when the camera is mounted
- n, or close to you. This setting gives the widest top to
bottom viewing area.

Frames per second - fps
In photo mode the fps are set for either… In video mode the frame rate is set in conjunction with the image resolution
- setting. On the Hero4 Black camera the options range from 24 to 240 fps.
Continuous at 3, 5, or 10 fps, or for Burst at up to 30 fps
Typically a frame rate of 24 or 30 fps is used for viewing videos in real time,
while rates of 60 fps and above are used when you want to view a portion of the video in slow motion.
FOV - Field of View
The Performance GoPro cameras can be set to 3 different FOV’s:
Medium – similar to a 22mm lens Ultra Wide – similar to a 14mm lens Narrow – similar to a 28mm lens *Only available on a small
number of settings

modifications to the swixtronix plug to make it fit. For those interested in this project let me know and I can help. These can be purchased premade on Amazon as well, but read the reviews and proceed with caution – always test for waterproof seal prior to using underwater.
